Drafting wide receivers and inserting them into the starting lineups of NFL teams immediately has long been considered a risky proposition. The prevailing belief in many circles is that it takes a wide receiver at least three solid years in an offensive scheme to develop and "break out" in his third year. Recent history suggests this is generally true. Over the last three NFL Drafts 13 wide receivers have been drafted in the first round and on average had a rookie season stat line that looked similar to this: 34 receptions, 487 yards and 3 TD.

However this year two rookie wide receivers have already developed into "must start" fantasy wide outs regardless of past history and are on pace to eclipse the above stat line; the Philadelphia Eagles DeSean Jackson and the Denver Broncos Eddie Royal.

After four games Jackson has accumulated 22 receptions for 327 yards and added another 33 and a TD via the rush. Royal has accumulated 27 receptions for 298 yards and two TD. Based on PayTheFan.com's fantasy rankings both receivers are currently ranked in the top 10 with Royal ranked eighth and Jackson ranked ninth.

Despite past history, it is now time to consider both players when choosing starting wide receivers for your PayTheFan.com weekly roster.
