Historical analysis is an important fantasy factor in attempting to evaluate and hopefully capitalize on a player's future performance. But in 2008 as far as quarterback's are concerned no amount of past data could have hinted at what was to occur. Below I have included the top ten producing fantasy quarterbacks from 2007 and the top ten from 2008 after five weeks which is filled with surprises:
2007 1. Tom Brady 2. Tony Romo 3. Peyton Manning 4. Drew Brees 5. Ben Roethlisberger 6. Derek Anderson 7. Brett Favre 8. Matt Hasselbeck 9. Carson Palmer 10. Kurt Warner
2008 1. Jay Cutler 2. Aaron Rodgers 3. Drew Brees 4. Philip Rivers 5. Tony Romo 6. Kurt Warner 7. Brett Favre 8. Donovan McNabb 9. Jason Campbell 10. Kyle Orton
According to PayTheFan.com's rankings after five games only four QB's who finished in the top 10 last year have been able to replicate the feat thus far (Drew Brees, Tony Romo, Brett Favre and Kurt Warner) and none of them are named Peyton Manning, Ben Roethlisberger or Carson Palmer.
Not only is Kyle Orton the 10th best producing fantasy QB so far, but former disappointment Jason Campbell ranks 9th. Maybe the biggest surprise of all is Aaron Rodgers who is second overall and has even out produced his predecessor Brett Favre.
So what does this mean? When picking your weekly PayTheFan.com lineups, play the match ups, and don't get seduced by the big names.
