Dale’s Week 22 Advice - “the trick is picking the right combination for the week”
Posted By: Dale Jarrett
Good afternoon everyone and welcome to Watkins Glen. Looks like I lost a little more ground to Elliott last week. But like a lot of you I'm sure, the gas mileage kind of took a bite out of some good finishes. Well we won't have that problem this week. People will pit out of sequence, but you rarely see anyone running out of gas here. Everyone should have a good idea of who the good road course drivers are by now. But the trick is picking the right combination for the week. Let's take a look at this.
In the "A" group this week, we all know the 24, 20, 29, and probably the 11 and 18 should be strong contenders here. But what is the combination. For me this week, I am leaning towards the 24 and the 20. They have such good track records here it is hard to go against them. If I lean in another direction, it is probably going to be with the 29. The 29 always runs well at the road courses, but does not always get the finishes he otherwise deserves because of circumstances on the track. But I would say, and combination of those five cars should be a good one.
In the "B" group this week, I really like the 42 and the 26. I also like the 7 and possibly the 5. Once again, these cars should all finish well, but it is picking the right combination that is going to get you the quality points. But right now I believe I will have to say, "Juan Pablo and Jamie, come on down!!"
In the "C" group this week, I believe I am sticking with Ron Fellows and Marcus Ambrose. Those guys had quality runs going at Infineon, and were cut short by two mishaps on the track. Other dark horses could be the 10, or the 00.
Good luck everyone and make sure to tune in to ESPN on Sunday. It should be a pretty good show.
